たてかえ【立て替え】

advancing sb the money 《to pay for sth》; payment on sb's behalf.

●持ち合わせがなかったので友人に立て替えを頼んだ. I had no cash with me, so I asked a friend to lend me the money [pay for me (on the understanding that I would pay him back later)].

●その 2 万円は私の立て替えです. I've paid the \20,000 now for him to pay me back later. | I've advanced \20,000 on his behalf.

立替え払い 〔患者が保険でカバーされる医療費をいったん支払うこと〕 payment by the patient for medical services covered by insurance; 〔未払い賃金などを親会社･国などが支払うこと〕 payment by 《the parent company》 of 《unpaid wages》.
